The science is crystal clear – urgent action is needed to tackle human-driven climate change.
Yet, there’s still a big gap between what scientists are warning us about and the action society is actually taking.
The ActNow project set out to close that gap by using modern, experience-based tools – like mobile AR and simulation games – to help youth workers inspire and prepare young people to actively take part in protecting our planet.
Through the program, we developed fresh, youth-friendly educational tools and methods based on non-formal and informal learning. The project empowered young people to use mobile games as a way to stand up for environmental protection and sustainable development – and to do it with energy, creativity, and impact.
Key Activities
Boosting youth workers’ skills in using custom-made mobile apps and simulation games.
Conducting methodological research to find the best tools and approaches for developing key competences related to climate change.
Introducing youth workers to existing AR and simulation game platforms and equipping them with the technical and professional know-how they need to strengthen those competences.
Expanding knowledge about climate change and its impacts through non-formal and informal learning methods.
Key Achievements
Created a mobile-friendly AR-based training package and simulation game for young people learning about climate change.
Trained youth workers and educators to use AR tools and simulation games in their work.
Launched a multilingual e-learning platform packed with training materials, role-play scenarios, and case studies.
Organised awareness-raising and activation events in multiple countries – including Hungary – to showcase the project’s results and inspire action.
