During the project, we conducted an online questionnaire to assess public knowledge and habits related to the circular economy. Based on the results, the identified issues were discussed collaboratively by citizens, policymakers, and decision-makers through both in-person and online meetings, as well as at awareness-raising events.
The process followed a crowdsourcing approach: each partner organization engaged its own community, collected responses, and then compared the results to draw shared conclusions. The questionnaire provided valuable insights into the public’s knowledge, level of commitment, and the barriers that hinder active participation in circular economy practices.
The findings are summarized in a report that presents the project outcomes and evaluation.

The project examined citizens’ knowledge, attitudes, habits, and needs regarding the circular economy at the level of individual EU Member States.
The WE-Democracy project brought together researchers from Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, and Romania with the goal of fostering active European citizenship and improving conditions for civic and e-democratic participation. A series of activities were organized to empower citizens to learn from one another, collaborate, and engage in decision-making processes related to the circular economy.
The circular economy is a model of production and consumption that emphasizes sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible. This approach extends the lifecycle of products and reduces waste, contributing to a more sustainable future.
